Our Values

FEthink believes in the power of education to deliver a more informed, just, engaged and cohesive society. Its mission and services are founded on five core values:

EMPOWER - giving people control and a voice

ENLIGHTEN - providing insight and knowledge

CONNECTION - building a community of professionals

IMPACT - making a difference to learners, teachers and society

COMPASSION - championing inclusion, kindness and social justice

Our view is that education is not simply a place for discussing and imagining new ways of being. It gives force to social justice, activism and cultural understanding, delivering a fairer, kinder, greener and more compassionate society which we are all full participants in.

FEthink connects individuals and communities with new ways of exploring, influencing and enjoying the world around them.

Our History

FEthink is the brainchild of Dr Paul Tully, who has more than 30 years working in further education and training. He previously worked for the Education and Training Foundation as Associate Director for Policy and Research, working across several multi-million pound government-funded impact projects. Prior to this, he led on quality improvement and teacher training in various colleges.

Paul has built a successful research and consultancy career on the back of his passion for training and supporting many thousands of students over the years.

Paul is also the Executive Director of the Newbubbles Group, which has built a long-lasting reputation for high-quality training and conferencing in the training sector since 2010, with more than 200 corporate clients and a team of over 40 trainers and inspectors.

Its national conferences became a showcase annual event with speakers of unprecedented calibre, including Michael Portillo, Professor Robert Winston, Professor Frank Coffield, Professor Dylan Wiliam, and celebrity Maths guru, Johnny Ball.

Testimonial - Geoff Petty

The great author, trainer and evidence-based guru, Geoff Petty, has worked with Paul on many FE projects in the last 15 years, in what has been an exceptional and energising collaboration.

“I have known Paul Tully and his work for several decades and he is widely regarded as a deep thinker and a real innovator in the sector. His Newbubbles Conferences were highly regarded, and so attended in large numbers by colleagues from all over the UK. It was quite a project to set up a national conference network. His success here demonstrated his considerable talent as a social entrepreneur. His academic work on professionalism is deep, thorough, and thought provoking. Paul is not scared of 'thinking big' and is a safe pair of hands when breaking new ground. He has been a real influence on many in the sector including me. Despite his many skills he is a very easy person to work with, he seems to believe that however much he knows, there is something he can learn from everyone he meets.”
